Lane (Origin–Destination Pair)
A lane is a defined transport route between a specific origin and destination. Example: Paris → Stuttgart.
Why it Matters: Managing costs and performance at the lane level gives procurement visibility to compare carriers, track OTD, and negotiate targeted improvements. It is the basic unit of analysis in freight procurement.
