Consolidation

Sustainability & Digitalization

Consolidation

Consolidation combines multiple shipments or orders into fewer, fuller moves - for example, grouping same-lane pickups or using a cross-dock to build FTL from LTL volumes.

Why It Matters

Fuller trucks improve load factor, cutting cost per unit and emissions per shipment. Procurement can codify consolidation rules (cut-off times, minimum fill thresholds) and align them with service policies so savings don't undermine OTD/OTIF commitments.
