On-Demand / Premium Freight
On-demand freight, also known as premium or expedite transport, is capacity arranged at very short notice, often for time-critical shipments. It usually involves dedicated vehicles or air freight, with significantly higher costs.
Why it Matters: On-demand is essential to protect production continuity when disruptions occur. While costly, it prevents million-euro losses from line stoppages in industries like automotive or aerospace. The goal is to minimize reliance on on-demand by planning contracts and pre-negotiated spot effectively.
