Load Factor / Truck Utilization

Load factor reflects how fully a truck or container is used, either by weight or volume. A 100% load factor means capacity is maximized; anything less indicates unused space.

Why it Matters: Low load factors drive up cost per shipment and CO₂ emissions per ton. Studies show average truck utilization is below 60%, meaning huge savings and sustainability gains are possible by consolidating loads and reducing empty miles.
