Mode Shift (Air, Road, Rail, Ocean)

Mode shift means changing the transportation mode to achieve lower cost, better service, or reduced environmental impact. Example: shifting freight from air to road, or from road to rail.

Why it Matters: Mode shift is a key lever for both cost optimization and CO₂ reduction. Procurement teams use it to reduce reliance on premium air freight or long-haul trucking when slower, greener modes are feasible.
